I have had all the necessary xrays, and am now on hormone therapy. I have had an injection and take one pill each day to slow the cancer. So far no evidence that cancer has left my prostate - wonderful! From all sources I have been told that I will die from something other than prostate cancer as long as I keep up the medication.
A long article in the Toronto Star shows some doubt as to the value of a PSA test. (blood taken is processed and gives a count of how bad the cancer is). My rate was 41, really high, but it seems I will be ok in spite of this.
My next test will be a PSA reading in three months to see if it has come down. I will report on that important date.
I feel it is extremely important that men of any age attend a good doctor and get an appraisal of their own prostate count. If done diligently, Prostate Cancer can be arrested and treated!
Remember, I am not a Doctor, and am living the prostate cancer scare day by day. From what I have learned, prostate cancer is not to be feared, but respected. Keep a close watch on your own events, your wives and families will applaud you.
